- Vaccination: The most effective defense. Animals must be vaccinated against FMD according to the official schedule.
- Quarantine Protocols: Newly acquired animals should be isolated for at least 21 days and only introduced to the herd after confirming their health status.
- Sanitation and Disinfection: Disinfection barriers should be placed at the entrance of barns, and access for unauthorized persons or vehicles should be restricted.
- Early Symptoms: If symptoms like high fever, excessive salivation, or blisters (aphthae) in the mouth and between the hooves are observed, contact a veterinarian immediately.
