PhD in Biology, specializing in Genetics and Plant Protection
Elnara Ahmadova is a well-known scientist and specialist specializing in plant pathology, genetics, and plant protection. Born in 1982, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Plant Pathology (2008) and her Master’s degree in Plant Science (2010) from the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University. In 2019, she was awarded the PhD degree in Biology, specializing in “Genetics,” from the Institute of Genetic Resources of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS)
Scientific and Professional Career:
• Career Path: Since 2014, she has worked as a researcher at the Research Institute of Fruit and Tea Growing (RIFTG), later serving as the Scientific Secretary and Head of the Plant Pathology Department. In 2024–2025, she served as the Deputy Director of the Experimental Station of RIFTG.
• International Experience: In 2018, she conducted scientific research at the Julius Kühn Institute (Federal Research Centre for Cultivated Plants) in Dresden, Germany.
• Invention: She is the author of an invention for a control method against bacterial canker disease in olive plants.
International Projects:
• Global Research: She is the executor of the Azerbaijan Science Foundation’s project on the evaluation and passportization of the hazelnut gene pool based on international descriptors (2024–2026).
• Regional Cooperation: She has participated as an expert and executor in IFAD’s “Integrated Rural Development” and GIZ’s “Orchard Management” projects.
Practical Experience and Contributions:
• Publications: Ms. Elnara is the author of more than 30 books, scientific articles, and methodological guides on diseases and pests of fruit plants, integrated pest management (IPM), and modern cultivation technologies.
• Specialization: She possesses high professional skills in the use of molecular markers in breeding, and the genetic analysis of resistance against scab and other pathogenic diseases in fruit plants. She is highly proficient in several foreign languages, including German, Turkish, and English.
