Who is Fariz Alakbarov?
Fariz Alakbarov is a renowned scientist and a highly qualified expert specializing in organic farming, soil fertility management, and plant protection. Born in 1980, he graduated with honors with a Bachelor’s degree (1997–2001) and a Master’s degree (2001–2003) from the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University (ADAU). He earned his PhD in Agricultural Sciences in 2009 and was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in 2017.
Main activities and achievements:
• Academic activity: Since 2010, he has been an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Agronomy of ADAU, lecturing on “Smart” climate farming and plant breeding.
• Management experience: He served as the Deputy Director at the Research Institute of Plant Protection and Industrial Crops, leading the execution of scientific research programs.
• Consultant agronomist: As a chief agronomist and national consultant for “Bagbanlar” LLC and USAID PSA projects, he provides direct technical support to farms.
International experience:
• Global cooperation: He has participated in projects with the UN FAO, GIZ, and UNDP, serving as an expert in promoting eco-corridors and strengthening agricultural advisory services.
• International specialization: He has completed advanced training courses on modern farming, smart agriculture, and food safety in the USA, South Korea, Japan, Austria, and Turkey.
Practical experience and scientific contributions:
• Scientific publications: He is the author of 67 scientific works and numerous training modules. He possesses deep knowledge in the inventory of greenhouse gases in agriculture and Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
Currently, alongside his scientific leadership, he continues his activities as a consultant expert in the application of innovative technologies in agriculture and organic farming.
