Sevil Suleymanova

PhD in Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor in Plant Science and Biotechnology

Sevil Suleymanova is one of the country’s leading female scientists, specializing in pomology, plant biotechnology, and crop cultivation. Born in 1981, she earned her PhD in Agricultural Sciences in 2021 and was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor in Plant Science in 2026. Currently, she continues her scientific research at the doctoral level in biotechnology at the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University.

Scientific and Professional Career:

Career Path: Since 2008, she has worked as a researcher at the Research Institute of Fruit and Tea Growing (RIFTG), serving as the Head of the Information Support Department and as Scientific Secretary. Since 2020, she has been the Deputy Director for Scientific Affairs at the same institute.

Laboratory Leadership: In 2019–2020, she served as the Head of the Biotechnology Laboratory at RIFTG. She also has practical management experience in the nursery sector as the Executive Director of “Guba Ting” LLC.

Biotechnological Research: From 2021 to 2024, she worked as a specialist at the Biotechnology Center of the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University, focusing on the application of modern laboratory methods in agriculture.

International Projects:

Global Partnership: She serves as a local expert in the FAO project for hazelnut development (HAZER) and in the world-renowned “FERRERO” company’s project on the study of aflatoxin in hazelnuts.

Joint Research: She participates as a researcher in a project involving a comparative analysis of the molecular characteristics of pathogenic viruses in fruit plants between Azerbaijan and Belarus. She is also a member of the project for in vitro (laboratory conditions) embryogenesis in fruit plants.

Practical Experience and Contributions:

Sevil Suleymanova possesses extensive theoretical and practical knowledge in the molecular characterization of fruit plants, the conservation of the gene pool, and the production of healthy planting materials using biotechnological methods.
